Isle of Skye Trail, Schottland: Photos of the trekking tour

At the end of September I spent a week on the Isle of Skye – to walk the Skye Trail from Rubha Hunish to Broadford. I walked 6 of the stages in 5 days. One stage – from Sligachan to Elgol – I had to skip because of the bad weather. In retrospect, this was a good decision, because I learned later that some of the rivers were so swollen by the rain that it was impossible to cross them.

I’ll be reporting more about the trekking tour here in a few days, first of all you’ll find the photos on Flickr:

The Triglav National Park offers excellent conditions for planning shorter or longer tours with a considerable difference in altitude – above all, it is advisable to take a tour between the mostly well equipped huts in the Julian Alps.

You’ll find some impressions of my brother’s and my tour on Flickr: It went from Bled in a big circle through the Triglav National Park to Skofia Loka in 2 weeks.

E7, Slovenia

E7, Slovenia

My brother and me will be hiking again in a couple of weeks. This year we chose Slovenia, and that’s because of the many recommendations of friends. We haven’t worked out the details: We only decided on the starting point – Bled – and the fact that we want to hike on the E7 which leads from west to east. At the same time we definitely want to spend a couple of days at Triglavski Narodni Park.

It is not easy to find good maps and information about the E7, but we are working on it. This is our actual idea of how to hike for the two weeks:

Cape Wrath Trail

Cape Wrath Trail

My hiking boots are longing for some trail and mud underneath, and my feet are twitching nervously. It’s time to go for another adventure, for another hike! So my brother an me just booked flights to Glasgow, to head out for a very challenging trail which will bring us to the north edge of Scotland: Cape Wrath.

We will be hiking for two weeks, out in the wild. The Cape Wrath Trail leads from Ft. William to the north end of Scotland, Cape Wrath. Since the route is more than 200 miles long and unmarked, we won’t be able to make the whole distance in two weeks. So right now we are still working out which part of the trail we will hike: from south to north, which would leave out the beautiful northern part. Or from north to south, which will be a lot harder from the terrain, and will be hard to get to in April.

Well, we’ll see, but anyway: It looks beautiful, and I can’t wait for the hike …
